Privacy policy
Effective October 19, 2026
Nutri keeps your food journal so it can do the math for you. We don't sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites. You can export or delete everything from inside the app.
Who we are
Nutri is made by Scalrlabs ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Nutri iPhone app and this website. Questions go to hadiaamir8@gmail.com.
What we collect
Your account
You sign in with Apple. Apple gives us an account identifier and, if you choose to share it, an email address. That address may be a private relay address that Apple forwards to you.
Your journal
The lines you write or say (as text), the meals and foods they become, portions, corrections you make, saved meals, recipes, your goals, and preferences such as display name, units, region, time zone, diet, reminder times and streak milestones.
Details for your plan
To suggest calorie and protein, carb and fat goals, Nutri asks for your sex, birth year, height, weight, activity level and, if you set one, a goal weight and pace. You can type these in or fill them from Apple Health. They're stored with your account so your plan can be recalculated.
Meal and label photos
When you log with a photo, the image is uploaded and re-encoded without its metadata, including location, before anything analyzes it. Photos are kept according to your setting in Profile: deleted once the meal is saved, deleted after 30 days (the default), or kept until you delete them.
Voice
Speech is turned into text by Apple's speech recognition, on your iPhone whenever possible and otherwise through Apple. Nutri receives only the resulting text, never audio.
Apple Health
If you allow it, Nutri reads your weight, height, date of birth, sex and the energy you burn from Apple Health to fill in your plan, and can write the calories, protein, carbs and fat you log back to Apple Health. Health samples are read on your iPhone. Only the plan details listed above are sent to us. Data from Apple Health is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with data brokers.
Subscriptions
When you subscribe or restore a purchase, the app sends us Apple's signed transaction (product, transaction IDs and expiry date) so we can confirm your access. Apple handles payment. We never see your card details.
Product analytics
Nutri counts how the app is used so we can fix and improve it: for example that a meal was logged, which screen was opened, or whether a correction was made. Each event is a fixed label or a number. It never includes what you ate, your photos, your health details or your name, and it isn't tied to your account. It uses a random identifier that Nutri's analytics provider, PostHog, creates on your iPhone. There is no session recording. You can turn analytics off any time in Profile.
Technical data
Our servers record requests (time, IP address, the endpoint called and any error) to keep the service secure and working, and to enforce rate limits. These logs are kept for a short period.
How we use it
- To turn your lines and photos into foods, portions and nutrition, and to keep your journal, history and progress.
- To calculate and adjust your goals.
- To provide your subscription and respond when you contact us.
- To protect the service from abuse and fix problems.
We don't use your journal, photos or health details for advertising, and we don't use them to train AI models.
AI processing
To recognize foods, Nutri sends the text of a line, or a photo with its metadata already removed, to Anthropic, which provides the AI model. The AI only reads your words and images. Every calorie and nutrient value comes from a nutrition record, such as USDA FoodData Central, the Canadian Nutrient File or a package label. Anthropic processes this content to return a result to us and, under its commercial terms, does not train its models on it. If we add or change an AI provider, we'll update this policy first.
Who processes your data
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Sign-in sessions, the database that holds your journal, and private photo and export storage. Your database is hosted in Canada. |
| Railway | Runs the Nutri server that the app talks to. |
| PostHog | Product analytics: anonymous usage counts, as described above. |
| Anthropic | The AI model that reads lines and photos. |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, payments and subscriptions, speech recognition and Apple Health. |
These providers process data only to provide their service to us. Some may process it in the United States or Canada. We don't sell or rent personal information to anyone.
How long we keep it
- Your account and journal are kept until you delete them.
- A meal you delete is removed permanently within 30 days.
- Photos follow your photo setting, described above.
- Export download links expire after 24 hours.
- When you delete your account, we delete your journal, profile, photos and exports. Copies in encrypted backups are overwritten within a short period.
Your choices and rights
- Export your journal: Profile, then Export my data.
- Delete your account and everything in it: Profile, then Delete account. Deletion starts right away and can't be undone.
- Correct any line, goal or detail in the app.
- Turn off Apple Health, camera, photos or microphone access at any time in your iPhone's Settings.
Depending on where you live, including Canada, the EU, the UK and California, you may have rights to access, correct, port or delete your data, or to object to some processing. Email hadiaamir8@gmail.com and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Nutri isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has used Nutri, contact us and we'll delete the account.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections. Photos and exports sit in private storage and are reached only through short-lived signed links. Only the account that created it can read a journal.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. For significant changes, we'll also tell you in the app before they take effect.
